Many of the Mercedes-Benz C-Class models from 2002 through 2011, and some E-Class Models from 2002–2006, and the 2007–2011 SLK roadster were powered by the M271 inline four-cylinder gasoline powered engine. The M271 was first introduced in 2002, replacing the existing M111 engine which dated back to 1992.
Manufactured at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Unterturkheim, Germany, the M271 was sold in certain models with an Eaton M45 supercharger, under the Kompressor label, to boost power.
