The 55th annual Circle K Winternationals on February 5 through 8 in Pomona, California will signal the beginning of the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. The Auto Club Raceway at Pomona will once again host the event described as one of drag racing’s grandest traditions. The start of a new season means new cars, drivers, teams, and sponsors will be revealed for the first time. The historic track in Pomona, California is known for being fast, smooth, and the location of many record setting runs. With everything new to see, and an exciting weekend of racing, NHRA fans will be equally entertained by what takes place on track as well as everything going on in the pits.

K&N sponsored NHRA drag racer Peter Biondo is the reigning NHRA Super Stock Champion, his fifth championship in this class, and will begin his 2015 season with the Circle K NHRA Winternationals in Pomona, California. Biondo will continue to drive the Phil Monteith owned, Sparco and K&N filters backed “Hatari” Pontiac Firebird in the Super Stock class. Biondo has captured three of his five Super Stock championships in this same car. He will also compete in the Stock Eliminator class with his 1969 Chevy Camaro backed by Biondo Racing Products and BracketRaces.com. While most people would be determined to stay on top, Peter Biondo realizes the odds are against him. Only two drivers have been able to win back to back championships in the modern-era of NHRA drag racing.

Justin Lamb will begin the 2015 season by competing in both Stock and Super Stock classes

Justin Lamb, who is one of only four drivers to have earned NHRA national titles in six different categories, will begin the 2015 season by competing in both Stock and Super Stock classes

Peter also admitted “It gets harder and harder to chase the championship every year. Not only does the competition get tougher, but priorities change.” Peter and his wife welcomed a new baby boy into their lives in August of 2014 and as Peter explained “We’re busy as parents, and it definitely makes it harder to get on an airplane or to jump in a motorhome to go racing each weekend!” Another NHRA National Champion and K&N supported driver, Justin Lamb, is looking forward to kicking off the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season at the Circle K NHRA Winternationals. Lamb is one of only four drivers to have earned NHRA national titles in six different categories, and is by far the youngest of the group. He will begin the 2015 season by competing in both Stock and Super Stock categories at the Auto Club Raceway at Pomona. In addition to driving the Lamb Motorsports cars, Justin has committed to running a full schedule of Competition Eliminator events behind the wheel of the A-1 Transmissions backed Chevrolet Cobalt owned by Ken Reich and the Bowdish Family.
