rend is focused and eager to prove himself to both the public and his peers. With one career victory on his record, he will get his chance in 2007. “Jeff is a future star looking for a place to go super nova,” said Team Manager Bob Wilber of Worsham Racing. “He’s a great driver who needed a fast car to make his mark.”

He’ll get his chance during qualifying session number one.

“I’m ready to make that first real lap, with real points and real results on the line,” said Arend. “It’s getting tough to sleep. I’ve been on a whirlwind since the announcement was made in December. We’ve been testing the car and learning to work together.”

This is Arend’s 12th year as a professional Funny Car driver. He will enter this weekend’s race having competed in exactly 65 rounds of competition since 1995, posting a 15-50 won/lost record. During that same time period, Arend’s teammate Del Worsham has competed in 474 rounds, winning 248 of them.

“Del’s numbers speak for themselves, and they’re all you need to know to figure out what a great driver he is,” said Arend. “I’ve always been impressed with how he handles the car and reacts to it, so there’s a lot I can learn there. I couldn’t be in a better place and I just can’t wait to get going.”

“Everyone at Worsham Racing is thrilled to maintain our relationship with K&N Filters in 2007,” said Wilber. “We had K&N Oil Filters on both of our Checker, Schuck’s, Kragen Monte Carlo Funny Cars throughout the entire 2006 season and we never missed a minute of racing due to any filter failure. You need that kind of confidence to continually send your divers out on the track in 330 mph race cars. That’s why we continue to spin those K&N Filters into place before every run. K&N Oil Filters are one part of the equation we never have to worry about.”
