Beard drove the team’s 1974 Duster bracket car to two first place wins and a runner-up finish. He won at Pageland Dragway in Pageland, South Carolina, and came in second at Mooresville Dragway. His 1980 Volare Stock Eliminator was damaged after a fire affected the engine last season.

After some extensive repairs Beard drove the Duck Tape Volare in its first race over the weekend at Piedmont Dragway in Greensboro, North Carolina. After making two qualifying runs at Piedmont for the IHRA Division 9 Summit Pro-Am event, Beard drove nearly three hours to Pageland Dragway in South Carolina.

In South Carolina he scored a runner-up in Modified Saturday night and reclaimed the points lead. On Sunday, Beard drove back to North Carolina and captured the Ironman in Stock Eliminator. The Ironman victory sets the team up for another shot at regaining the World Championship Title.

“We won the World Championship in 2003,” said Beard. “We’ve had a good run so far, in fact this is the best season opener I’ve ever had.”

Beard uses K&N Engineering Products. “We found a winning, quality combination with K&N,” he said. “We plan to use K&N throughout the 2007 season. My cars are running flawlessly.”
