2004 & 2005 Nissan Frontier 2.5L Diesel Truck Replacement Air Filter Now Available

It's third generation, longer, wider and distinguished from any previous Nissan pickup. The wheelbase is 9.8 inches longer than other models, with an overall length of 205.5 inches. The Frontier is available in 4X4 and 4X2 configurations.

K&N Engineering, Inc. has designed a new lifetime replacement air filter (E-2020) for the 2005 Nissan Frontier 2.5L L4 DSL and the 2004 Nissan Frontier 2.5L L4 DSL. This air filter, like all K&N lifetime replacement air filters is designed to increase horsepower and acceleration while providing excellent filtration. The height of K&N's E-2020 is 9.055 inches (99mm) with a base outside diameter of 5.197 inches (132mm) for the perfect fit.

The pleating on K&N filters increases the surface area, which then assists air flow and extends service intervals. Unlike disposable filters, K&N Air Filters use a unique pleated design comprised of an oiled cotton fabric.

This new filter was developed at K&N's United Kingdom facility.  The Frontier is a popular vehicle in the UK.  Nissan added more high-tech features to the Frontier that will assist off-roaders in extreme conditions. Hill Descent Control (HDC) makes it easy to go downhill without constantly hitting the brakes. Hill Start Assist (HAS) allows the driver to stop up-slope, release the brake pedal and not roll back for up to two seconds as the driver shifts a foot to the gas pedal.

The Saab's sister is the Subaru WRX made by Fuji Heavy Industries, said Saab of Santa Ana parts manager Scott Pritchett. "It's a great little car that's smaller than the traditional Saab, but rides like a luxury Saab," he said.

Terry Borcheller Struggles in Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach Race

The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach was a struggle for 2003 Rolex Series champion Terry Borcheller.

From the onset, defending race and series champion Sebastien Bourdais dominated throughout the weekend, leading nearly every practice and winning both sessions of qualifying before his record win.

The race is on a 1.986-mile, 11-turn circuit that goes through city streets between downtown Long Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Borcheller’s co-driver, Harrison Brix was behind the wheel for the first part of 74 laps.

As Bourdais led the field into the first turn of the Champ Car World Series, five cars behind him crashed while trying to get through a tight corner. Mario Dominguez hit teammate Paul Tracy from behind. Tracy was turned around and then got slammed again as Oriol Servia, Bourdais’ teammate Bruno Junqueira and A.J. Allmendinger were collected in the aftermath.

“I was standing in the pit watching,” said Borcheller. “Harrison, my co-driver was behind the crash, it was a scary moment.” The only injury in the five car crash was a bruised knee, said Borcheller. Four of the contenders were knocked out of the city’s seaside street course. Dominguez’s was able to continue, however, and finished 4th.

Harrison Brix returned to the pits. “It was my turn after the pit stop. I started 7th or 8th and moved up to 5th or 6th place,” said Borcheller. “I immediately starting dealing with handling issues and knew I was going to get passed. I was trying to maintain my position.”

Borcheller was driving his Doran Ford No. 77 in the event. “I ended up grabbing the tire wall with the wing and pulled the wing off,” he said. “In the end we finished 22nd out of 26.”

We were part of Saturday evening’s 90-minute Daytona Prototype-only race on the streets of Long Beach, California for the first time in the Champ Car Series, said Borcheller. The winner, Sebastien Bourdais went on to a record-setting performance averaging 87.268 mph in the win.

“That’s behind us,” said Borcheller. “Next is VIRginia International Raceway where we hope to do a lot better.”

Borcheller has 6 professional Series Drivers Championships and 57 Professional Race wins in 7 series at 20 tracks. He uses the stock K&N Engineering air filter on his vehicles when he races. “I’ve never had a problem with the K&N filter, K&N products have always been part of my racing life,” said Borcheller. “The air filters always give me more power and better fuel economy.”

Phil Burkart's Great 2006 NHRA POWERade Start Hits a Snag in Las Vegas

For the first time this year blue Checker, Schuck’s, Kragen driver Phil Burkart found his day to be over after the first round, at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Burkart had a great start to the 2006 NHRA POWERade season, going 6-4 at the first four races to get the No. 4 spot in points, prior to the weekend at “The Strip” in Las Vegas. Phil Burkart and his blue CSK Funny Car team use K&N Engineering oil filters (HP-5001) every time they race.

On Friday night, Burkart secured a position in the top half of the field with a 4.773 which was good enough for the No. 7 spot on Sunday. This was the second consecutive No. 7 position for the CSK driver.

“We were about where we wanted to be for race day,” said Burkart. “We were pretty aggressive on Saturday, after the nice run on Friday night, and the last run was actually so aggressive we almost did a wheelstand out there. Still, the car was reacting to what (co-crew chiefs) Chris Cunningham and Marc Denner were telling it, so we felt pretty good about our chances on Sunday. The hard part to take was the fact we qualified in the top half, but we still had Whit Bazemore to run on Sunday. That’s a good team over there, and they’d had a rough start to the season. You never like to face teams like that, because you know the odds are building up that they’ll have to whip someone soon.”

Burkart jumped out to a very slight edge at the start as both drivers nailed the tree with very respectable numbers, and was ahead at 60-feet. Race tracks are 1,320 feet long, however, and this race was over just past that first timer at the 60-foot mark. Burkart’s car first started to rattle the tires, next they shook. He pedaled the car quickly but it almost immediately smoked the tires, while Bazemore’s car tore down the track to a strong 4.833.

“It’s easy to get mad because we smoked the tires, but you have to give them credit for the 4.83. That was a great run, and they did it without any trouble. We gave ourselves the trouble, but even if we had gone down there it would have been tight,” said Burkart. “A 4.83 was a great run, and it was what we were aiming for, so it would’ve been a very tight race down there. Would’ve been, could’ve been, should’ve been, whatever. It wasn’t, and we got to taste a first round loss for the first time this year. It didn’t taste very good.

Burkart and the CSK team get another shot in three weeks, when the NHRA tour heads to the Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tennessee.

Phil Burkart Preparing for NHRA Summit Racing Nationals in Las Vegas

In 2004, Phil Burkart went to Las Vegas just beginning his tenure as the full-time driver of the blue Checker, Schuck’s, Kragen Funny Car. He entered the Vegas event outside the POWERade top ten with a 2-3 record. When he left the track on Sunday night, his record was 6-3, he was in 5th place in POWERade points, and he had a trophy under his arm.

This week, Burkart will again bring his blue Checker, Schuck’s Kragen Monte Carlo to “The Strip” at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, but when he begins qualifying on Friday, it will be from a much different perspective. In 2004 and 2005, Burkart and his team were struggling when they arrived in Las Vegas. The big win in 2004 turned things around and sent Burkart on his way to the only top ten finish of his career, but last year a first round loss and a devastating engine explosion dropped Burkart out of the top ten.

In 2006, things are very different. Burkart has the same crew, the same car, and much of the same equipment. He sits 4th in the POWERade points, and has consistently managed to win at least one round at every race to this point.

“It’s hard to put your finger on what we’ve done, but things are different around here,” Burkart said. “We’ve maximized our good stuff, minimized our mistakes and made the most of what we’ve done. To this point, no one on this team thinks we’ve even hit our stride yet, but we’re hanging around near the top of the points and we’re beating some very good teams. We can still improve, and we plan to get a little bit better this weekend.”

So far this season, Burkart has recorded a win over defending POWERade champ Gary Scelzi, along with victories over past champions John Force and Cruz Pedregon. All he’s missing is a win over Tony Pedregon to have beaten every Funny Car champion since 1990, and this season is only four races old. If he lines up next to Tony Pedregon on Sunday April 9th in Las Vegas, you can place your bets on Burkart having no thought about his opponent or the other champs he has defeated, according to Wilber. Instead, Burkart will only be focusing on his job, and the race track.

“We manage to beat some very tough opponents around here, not just his year but the last couple of years too,” Burkart said. “To do that, you can’t be thinking its John Force over there, or Gary Scelzi, or whoever it is. You have to think of what the track will give you, and I have to think of what I can do to help the team as the driver.”

Burkart plans on doing the best possible job he can inside the car. “It’s more than just good reaction times, it’s also being ahead of the car, in control of things, and cool under pressure,” he said.
